Act 2 scene 5

Juliet is in a rush to get an answer because she needs to know whether she’s getting married or not. I would also be very anxious to find out whether I have a wife (or in her case husband) because it is life changing. I don’t think she knows whether she is pleased with the results or not because she might have ot leaver her family. She is very confused and indecisive at the time, but she is also in love, it is very difficult to tell whether she is pleased or not.
This scene is made to create suspense in the audience. This is the moment in which we find out how much they are willing to risk and how much they truly love each other. When we find out that Juliet is going to get married, all of the tension suddenly breaks. We find in this scene that even though Juliet is scared of the possible dangers, she is willing to lose everything for Romeo. She has developed from a very cautious person, to a very strong and brave girl.
Romeo’s plan is extremely dangerous, and there is very little to win and a lot to lose. It is an act of faith, not of probability, and a very small chance of success, however it takes a lot of courage and confidence to even try such an idea. That is Rome’s most respectable quality.
